If you really like a particular obsidian skin, of course its worth it. If you think the one in question is nothing special, then its a waste of your time and money.
Female Mesmer is still the most beautiful set in the entire game in my opinion <3

If you (like me) have been unfortunate enough to make a male elementalist and have invested a lot of time in him before realising your mistake - yes!
Only male ele armor that doesn't look like it is straight out of La Cage Aux Folles!
Seriously, in the end there's only one person that can answer that question for you: you!

If it's anything besides an elementalist, dervish, or monk then I would have to say no, don't get it.
Because those are the only professions who have a decent looking armor in that category >.>

Now, I made fow armor for warrior because I liked it; and I don't really give anything if others say that I look like a trashcan or whatever. I like the armor, so it was worth the money and time I spent on it.

If you intend to farm for the mats, god no. I started that a while ago. I think I got through two runs and totaled six shards before I just got utterly fed up and quit. It's slooooooow.
If you have the spare cash... well, that's really your personal opinion then. Depends on if you like the armor or not, I guess.

They are worth the gold if they look nice on your character(the main one). But now if you buy FoW armors out of snobbism , on each of your character, even if it looks like crap, you either do too much pve and have too much gold or you're a bit of of your mind,

Cathedral of Flames is your friend. I own almost all of the Elite Armors on my Mesmer, Obsidian being my favorite. Never did a single UW ecto run.

There are a couple of reasons why I bought it.
1) I have the spare cash, I've only one PvE guy and he really "needs" nothing at this point, except more storage space, lol.
2) Earning the stuff gave me a reason to PvE
3) HoM, I wanted to put in 1 set of armor from each campain as well as the expansion, then add the FoW since it is avaible from any campain. Tha was my little idea.
Ranger FoW isn't all that neat, I dyed my Silver and it looks good. And yeah, other than a few guildies who play ranger Alot no one notices or cares that it's FoW. I just did it to apease my boredome and fill up the HoM.
Took me about a month farming on and off between PvP stuffs. The bunnies/golden eggs and the clovers/ales sped things up alot I think. So got lucky with timing.
I didn't farm the Mats, just other stuff to covert to gold and bought the Ecto and Shards. I found it much easier to buy ecto than shards for some reason, I guess most folks just merch shards at the trader since they are so cheap.
Now I'm farming to get all the useless/ugly Destroyer weapons made.

I don't think it's right to argue with someone's taste. I Don't like necro fow tho i like monk one. Don't like Warrior FoW tho i like Mesmer. Don't like sin/ritu, tho derv and para look nice. But that's my point of view and you should not mess with it.
err...guys playing derv are nuubs? meh a lot of peeps will get offended by this:P

Why would you even care what other people think about your armor?
Personally, I've bought it as it was the only one that looked OK to me at the time (before Factions). And fortunatly, it's still one of the best looking ones to me.

Well, it's worth it if you like it, but if you're buying it just to try and look cool then don't bother because nobody gives a flying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO what you are wearing tbh.

It is really a matter of taste. I happen to like FoW armor coz I found out after I get it on a certain prof I kinda stop caring about other armor types. It is considered the highest end armor u can get in the game, so if you like it then go for it.

If you like it, get it. There's not a whole lot else in the game to spend money on, besides other armors. Don't get it for prestige.

I love my monk. I've had the character for quite some time. I spent the time and gold to obtain FoW armor, and I never looked back. <3

Unless there is some huge benefit from putting up an obsidian armor in ur HoM then its worth it, however that is unknown. I think you can get much more with this money (~750k)

Yeah, it's as simple as that. It's only "worth it" if you like the way it looks.
